EXAMPLE LETTER SENT TO GP’S FOR PATIENTS
RECEIVING IV CHEMOTHERAPY
RE: Mr/Mrs
........... was seen in the Haematology Day Unit on ....... and commenced
.......... chemotherapy which will last approximately ......weeks.
He/she was given detailed information concerning the duration and
side effects of this treatment. I
thought it would be helpful to provide the same information for you -
copies enclosed. Mr/Mrs .....
will be reviewed on a weekly basis and will be supported with blood
products as necessary. There
is a chance that he/she will present to you with febrile neutropenia in
which case please make
arrangements for him/her to be admitted to the Mary Wright Unit
immediately with instructions to contact either Dr Cervi or Dr Watts,
consultant haematologists, on arrival. If you need any further information the Day Unit is
