Clinical Indications

Investigation and monitoring of connective tissue diseases.

Test Includes

  • U1-RNP; RNP-Sm; Sm; Ro; La; Scl-70; Jo-1. U1-RNP is strongly associated with MCTD, and may be seen in SLE and RA
  • RNP-Sm is seen in MCTD
  • Sm is reasonably specific for SLE 
  • Ro (SSA) is associated with Sjogren's, subacute cutaneous lupus and SLE
  • La (SSB) is strongly associated with Sjogren's, and may be seen in SLE (often with Ro) 
  • Scl-70 is seen in sclerosis/scleroderma 
  • Jo-1 is seen in myositis and dermatomyositis.
