History of thrombotic episodes in family, when undertaking a risk procedure

Test Includes

Coagulation Screen, Lupus Anticoagulant Screen, Anticoagulant Screen, Anticardiolupin Antibodies, Protein C, Protein S, Antithrombin, Activated Protein C Resistance (APCR), Factor V Leiden (often indicated by APCR).

Availability

Work batched and performed weekly. Please provide samples between 9.00 and 17.00hrs weekdays.

Samples should be taken with minimal stasis

18ml citrated blood, 4ml EDTA blood and 7ml clotted blood

Citrated plasma double spun and frozen 

Causes for Rejection

Underfilled, clotted on haemolysed citrate sample.  Patient on anticoagulant therapy. Patient pregnant or less than 4 weeks since end of pregnancy. During acute phase.
