Clinical Indications

Bruising, recurrent severe nose bleeds, menorrhagia, postoperative bleeding, relevant family history.

Test Includes

FVIII RAG, Collagen binding co factor, FVIII, VW Ratio

Combined Pathology Blood form (Yellow/Black or Blue for GP's)

Availability

Analysed by referral laboratory if specific criteria met.

Specific Criteria

Request must be agreed by consultant haematologist. 

Patient Preparation

Patient should be bled with minimum stasis and should not be on anticoagulant therapy.

3 Blue top (Citrate) tubes.

Collection

Samples must be transported to laboratory immediately.

Lab. Handling

Samples double spun and frozen. Send to Southend via courier (liaise with courier and Southend lab to ensure samples arrive frozen)

Causes for Rejection

Unlabelled sample. Underfilled, clotted or haemolysed samples. Patient on anticoagulant therapy.
