emergency.
The laboratories are open for routine investigations between
9.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday at all other times there is an on-call service.
A Phlebotomy
service is available from a number of locations. See patient
information sheet on blood tests for details
Please note: Patients
for investigations that require fasting should be advised appropriately. Requests
for domiciliary visits should be limited to those patients who are too ill or infirm to
travel.
All
specimens must be accompanied by the appropriate
Departmental request from fully and legibly completed with
the information
as shown in
Guidelines
on blood collection and relevant clinical details.
This information is essential to ensure the specimen is
processed correctly , the results returned without delay
and cumulative files established. It also
facilitiates easy access of results on ward terminals
