This
test was removed from routine use on 1 April 2006. It has been replaced by a test for detection of Helicobacter
pylori antigen in
faeces. This
is a superior diagnostic test, better reflecting active infection
with helicobacter. The
sensitivity and specificity of the faecal antigen test is similar
to the breath test.
