Investigation of high serum globulin level, or raised ESR.

Part of Profile

Serum protein electrophoresis, total protein and albumin will be measured on all requests.

Reference Ranges

Age related reference ranges are reported. 
Adult ranges are: IgA  0.7 - 4.0 g/L; IgG  5.4 - 16.5 g/L; IgM  0.5 - 2.0 g/L.

Further investigations will be performed if an abnormal band is found: confirmation of paraprotein, identification and quantitation of any monoclonal band. See laboratory investigation of suspected myeloma.
