Samples giving a positive test result will, provided that there is sufficient sample, be sent to a Reference Laboratory for confirmation/further tests  Results of these tests will usually be available 10 - 14 days after the date of the original in-house test

Naso-pharyngeal aspirate

Container

If possible please aspirate the sample using a suction catheter with a green or blue syringe fitting, or an "NPA" pot, rather than a "Mallinckrodt" suction catheter, as this will aid faster processing in the laboratory
Send complete tubing in a white capped universal container
